About Camp St. George
Camp St. George is sponsored by the parishes of the Diocese of Toledo and the Midwest of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America. It is located in Strawberry Point, IA. We offer hiking, creek playing, an outdoor chapel, a swimming pool, climbing opportunities, zip-lining, archery, and much more. Our program includes Morning and Evening Prayers, Church Services, Meals, Cabin Time, Christian Education, Sports, Nature Adventures and much more →
Our Mission
is to present to young people a living experience of the Holy Orthodox Faith, in their relationship with God and other campers in an uncluttered, natural environment.

At Camp, you get to be your goofy, vibrant self but also experience a reality of living in a church family, amid people like you, who are striving to live their faith. It's a glimpse of what heaven might be.
Through my years at Camp St. George (IOWA!), I've experienced countless unforgettable moments. One that stands out is when my counselor accidentally broke the diving board. These moments, both hilarious and meaningful, are just a small part of what makes camp so special to me. Every year, I leave with new stories, new friendship, and a deeper appreciation for the experiences I share at camp.
One of the biggest lessons I've learned from my campers is how easily they let go of bad feelings. Disagreements arise all the time—sometimes they argue over something small, but within 30 minutes, they're best friends again. Watching them handle conflicts with such ease and forgiveness has taught me a lot about letting go of anger and moving forward. These kids are masters at embracing the moment and not holding onto grudges, and every year, I find myself learning more from them than I ever expected.
I've learned that having faith isn't just about going to church or following rules—it's about the way you treat others. Camp St. George has shown me that faith is lived through kindness, compassion, and being the kind of person others want to be around. Anyone can grow closer to God by embodying the values of love and respect, treating others as they would want to be treated.
